Friday Walk & Talk Program Ends for the Season

I want to extend a “Thank you” to everyone who participated in the Friday Walk & Talk event this fall! It was great to meet all of you. I truly enjoyed your company and conversation as we walked the many miles around campus. Your participation and your honest input will really helped to expand this pilot program and start a similar group in the spring.

For those of you who may be a little bit confused, thanks for making it to the second paragraph! Let me fill you in on what’s been happening with this ISU WellBeing walking program. For the past six weeks, ISU WellBeing has been hosting Friday Walk & Talks. This was a weekly walking group that met every Friday at 12:15 in front of Beardshear Hall. ISU employees would meet and walk a one mile route around campus while talking with old friends, meeting new ones, and/or just enjoying the beauty of campus. Many employees noted how refreshed and revitalized they felt both mentally and physically after moving around in the fresh air and talking with coworkers. In total, we had just under 20 participants and had 8-12 walkers weekly by the end of the program.

Don’t fret if you didn’t get the opportunity to participate, with the success of the pilot program, we are looking to host a similar program in the spring. Be sure to watch for details on the walks - here on the ISU WellBeing website - and plan for the program to start on Friday’s after Spring break.

Thank you again to all who participated, we look forward to walking with you again in the spring!
