ISU WellBeing: Meditation 301: Compassionate Action | 2:30 - 3:00 pm

The world is a dynamic and difficult place where it's easy to feel overwhelmed.  How can we build the inner resources to work with others' distress as well as our own, so that we can be of benefit without getting burned out?  We will focus on meditation techniques and teachings that can help us to build trust in ourselves and our ability to handle our experience. ISU WellBeing: Mid-Morning Mindfulness  | 10:00 - 10:15 am  

 There is no better way to stay focused and productive when all around you is a little chaotic than to practice mindfulness. Join your colleagues and the ISU WellBeing team, and special guests, every Tuesday and Thursday mornings for a simple 15-minute mindfulness experience. ISU Extension and Outreach- Money Smart: Taking Control of Your $ | 12:00 - 1:00 pm

This two part workshop provides a “big picture” overview of what it means to be in control of your money on a month-to-month basis, and then looks at specific strategies to make that easier. Spending plans will be covered, including how to make a spending plan that is truly realistic, AND how to put plans into action effectively. The overall focus is on your priorities– making money choices with your priorities in mind. Mindspring Mental Health Alliance Webinar: Understanding Trauma | 12:00 - 1:00 pm 

Trauma is defined by the emotional and psychological effect an event has on people, and less by the event itself. Explore the science of trauma and discuss how trauma impacts physical & mental health with a licensed therapist. For more information and to register, click here

Employee & Family Resources (EFR) Webinar: Upping the Joy for the 2021 Holiday Season | 10:00 - 11:00 am

Though the COVID virus and its variants are a continued presence in our communities, we enter this Holiday Season with immunizations and testing options, and the wisdom garnered from living through the last year and a half. This webinar looks at how we might explore options to create safe, fun, and perhaps a more personable holiday season! ISU WellBeing: In Person Introduction to the Strolls for Well-being at ISU: Press Pause & take a break  | 11:30 am - Noon

If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or simply need to step away from your workspace, the Strolls for Well-being at ISU were created to offer you various opportunities on central campus, or to pause wherever you are. Whether you have 30 minutes or 5 minutes, these materials have been designed to be flexible and fit into your schedule. Join us in person for an introduction to the Strolls. Frequently asked questions will be addressed and the flexibility of this program will be experienced. Make the time to take a few deep breaths, notice the natural beauty around you, and simply 'be' for a few moments. Join us in Room 3512 of the ISU Memorial Union.          ISU WellBeing - Friday Walk and Talk  | 12:10 pm

Join us as we continue our Friday Walk & Talks this fall. We’ll meet on Fridays at 12:10 on the front steps of Beardshear for a one mile walk around our picturesque ISU campus. Come walk and talk with friends, colleagues, or just come and enjoy the beauty of campus. Join ISU WorkLife and WellBeing and de-stress from the week. Whether you are in-person on campus or prefer to join us virtually, the Friday Walk and Talks are an excellent way to connect and network with others! To sign up and join us virtually, click here. The lives of Iowa families have been irreversibly altered by the pandemic. This program, aimed at parents and at those who care for kids across a wide variety of professions, will focus on the effect of the pandemic on teachers, child care professionals and health care workers; how the well-being of these individuals affects families and parents; and what we as a community need to do to create and sustain strong care systems for the future.
