ISU WellBeing: Meditation 301: Compassionate Action | 2:30 - 3:00 pm

The world is a dynamic and difficult place where it's easy to feel overwhelmed.  How can we build the inner resources to work with others' distress as well as our own, so that we can be of benefit without getting burned out?  We will focus on meditation techniques and teachings that can help us to build trust in ourselves and our ability to handle our experience. ISU WellBeing: Mid-Morning Mindfulness  | 10:00 - 10:15 am  

 There is no better way to stay focused and productive when all around you is a little chaotic than to practice mindfulness. Join your colleagues and the ISU WellBeing team, and special guests, every Tuesday and Thursday mornings for a simple 15-minute mindfulness experience. ISU Extension and Outreach Financial Workshop |  Borrowing Smart  | 12:00 - 1:00 pm

This session reviews basic credit principles with a focus on reducing both the cost and the risk of borrowing. It will address ways to build or maintain a good credit history and credit score, ways to monitor your debt levels to avoid excessive indebtedness, along with tools and strategies to reduce credit costs. It will also briefly review credit protections under the law and resources for assistance when needed. To register, click here

Mindspring Mental Health Alliance Webinar: The Psychological Origins of Stigma & Bias | 12:00 - 1:00 pm 

How does cultural bias impact treatment, prevention & recovery? This one-hour session includes discussion of the origins of understanding mental illness, how misinformation is spread, and how stigma impacts individuals and families. Mindspring Mental Health Alliance Webinar: The Science Behind Mental Health | 12:00 - 1:00 pm 

Diagnosing mental illness isn't like diagnosing other chronic diseases. Are mental illnesses simply physical diseases that happen to affect the brain? Or do these disorders belong to a class all their own? An accessible guide to understanding causation, prevalence, treatment and prevention of mental illness. DSM Magazine Webinar- Lifting the Veil: Supporting Young Children | 12:00 - 1:00 pm

During the pandemic, our youngest citizens have experienced unprecedented levels of turmoil — a social, emotional and academic ordeal so great that many experts are predicting long-term developmental and mental health ramifications. What do you need to know about how to support the pre-K or elementary-age child in your life as we mark the one year mark of a year of trauma and disruption?          ISU WellBeing - Friday Walk and Talk  | 12:10 pm

Join us as we continue our Friday Walk & Talks this fall. We’ll meet on Fridays at 12:10 on the front steps of Beardshear for a one mile walk around our picturesque ISU campus. Come walk and talk with friends, colleagues, or just come and enjoy the beauty of campus. Join ISU WorkLife and WellBeing and de-stress from the week. Whether you are in-person on campus or prefer to join us virtually, the Friday Walk and Talks are an excellent way to connect and network with others! To sign up and join us virtually, click here.         Tuesday November 2, 9 and 16: ISU WellBeing-Introduction to Mindfulness Program  |  12:00 - 1:00 pm

This program, which focuses on doable practices for enhancing well-being in everyday life, teaches participants what mindfulness is and provides opportunities to engage in simple formal and informal practices. Participants will: Learn and practice 3 mindfulness meditations: sitting, walking, body scanning, cultivate a practice of mindfulness that fits your life, and increase capacity for recovering from challenges through mindfulness practice. This program is being delivered by Rebecca Eldridge and Margaret Fletcher of East Coast Mindfulness, an organization that provides customized online trainings about mindfulness to organizations, businesses and individuals throughout the world. Monday November 8: ISU WorkLife- EAP Workshop- Self-Care 101 | 11:00 am - Noon

Many people don't hesitate to help others, but when it comes time to help themselves, they think twice. Self-care is not selfish and it is important, yet many times it is a last priority. Learn how to put yourself first at least once a day to enhance all areas of your life and maximize well-being in this virtual course. Course aims: Perform a self-care self-check across the eight dimensions of wellness, identify areas of your life in need of attention, and make an action plan to help prioritize self-care.
