Mindspring Mental Health Alliance Webinar: What is COVID trauma? | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The pandemic has negatively affected many people’s mental health. How do we heal from its impact?  This seminar explores what trauma is and how Covid trauma has impacted society. Learn practical steps to start the healing process in this one-hour seminar. To register, click here

Story County Mental Health Expo: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm | ISU Memorial Union- Great Hall

Visit this annual community event to learn more about mental health resources available in Story County. There will be over 20 community resource vendors sharing their information and resources. This year's keynote speaker is former ISU women's basketball player, Lyndsey Fennelly. Lyndsey will speak openly about her lived experience with a mental health condition, while inspiring hope and showcasing resiliency with her story. Mindspring Mental Health Alliance Webinar: Understanding Suicide | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

It is often believed that talking about suicide or asking someone if they feel suicidal will encourage suicide attempts, when in reality directly discussing suicide is the key to prevention. Explore the causes of suicide, the warning signs, and how to cope. To register, click here

ISU WellBeing: Friday Walk and Talk | 12:10pm | Steps Outside Beardshear Hall

Meet us for a one mile walk around our picturesque ISU campus. Come walk and talk with friends, colleagues, or just come and enjoy the beauty of campus. Join ISU WorkLife and WellBeing and de-stress from the week. The Friday Walk and Talks are an excellent way to connect and network with others! ISU WellBeing and CELT : Mindfulness...On The Run: Mindful Walking | 12:10 pm - 12:30 pm

Looking for ways to reduce stress, increase focus, and be more present in the moment? Mindfulness is a practice that can be easily incorporated in to your life and learning spaces. Using the Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) mental health app, available free to all members of the Iowa State University community, we will highlight various mindfulness practices to enhance your own mental health as well as that of students on campus. ISU WorkLife EAP Workshop: Recognizing Emotional Intelligence | 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Why do some people seem to persevere in adversity and others quit? Just what does the phrase Emotional Intelligence (EQ) mean? This training will explain the difference between EQ and IQ and the importance of EQ in the workplace. The popular use of the term refers to mixed traits that include: self-awareness, motivation and persistence, optimism and the ability to manage one's emotions. Course Objectives: Define and describe EQ, discover the importance of EQ, understand the components of EQ, learn applications of EQ in the workplace, and acquire skills and build your EQ muscles.
