  • Webinar Brainstorming Session: What do we do About Child Care?  3:00pm

Many of our families have been challenged by COVID-19. Child care providers are operating at reduced capacity or with intermittent closures. Family incomes may have been affected, which leaves fewer resources for child care. We are still uncertain what "school life" will look like in the fall and don't know how to plan for child care that allows us to work.

Additionally, many of us don't know what our new workforce transformation options will look like. Iowa State's Work-Life Team continues to examine and collaborate with our families to explore solutions together. Tuesday, June 30th at 3:00 p.m., join our ISU community of parents for a special brainstorming session to explore:

  • What families need now and as we approach school accommodations for COVID that may pose challenges
  • Information about available resources
  • How our ISU community can create support systems for child care
  • Ways to go forward and advocate for our families as we address uncertainties and challenges around school and child care

Facilitators: Cris Broshar, WorkLife Specialist and Dara Wald, Assistant Professor.  Register for the session here.

This summer we are continuing our encouragement for you to break from the work you are doing and go on a one-mile walk with us every Friday. There are lots of ways to connect during this time and we have listed a few below for you to try:

  • Call a colleague, family member, or friend and talk on the phone while you walk
  • Encourage those in your place of residence to walk with you – kids, spouse, etc.
  • Take your pet on a walk – good for you, good for them
  • Go it alone and enjoy the quiet and peace of the day away from everyone else
  • Or, join the ISU WellBeing team via Webex every Friday!
